Herve`s eldest son Cyprien runs this domaine biodynamically and has recently added to his already scarily heavy workload by launching a new range of negociant wines, which are also biodynamic. The contracts he has put in place allow him to manage the vineyards during the year and do the harvest with his own team. Consequently, it should come as little surprise that this new range sits very comfortably indeed alongside his increasingly excellent domaine wines.

There is a long history of viticulture in the Taupenot family and Romain Taupenot, who runs this fantastic estate, is the seventh generation to make it his métier The actual domaine was founded in 1963 after the marriage of Denise Merme and Jean Taupenot and Romain joined full time in 1998.
In terms of vineyard holdings, thanks in large part to the history and depth of the family, the domaine is spread quite widely across the Cote d’Or with vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-St-Georges, Corton, Saint-Romain and Auxey-Duresses. Aside from making for a very interesting tasting when visiting the domaine, and perhaps more importantly, it presents Romain with an opportunity to prove how he likes to allow the vineyards to express themselves and not cloud their individuality with a house style. Romain describes himself as a ‘terroirist’ and he is not one to adulterate his fruit.

Having made the wines at Domaine du Comte Armand for several years where he was régisseur (general manager), the very gifted Benjamin Leroux then set up a négotiant business in Beaune in 2007, his first vintage. He has worked all over the world, including for Domaine Drouhin, Oregon, Devevey, Maison Louis Jadot, Château Cos d'Estournel and Giesen. Benjamin delivers purity of fruit alongside a seamless texture in his wines which have only the subtlest influence of oak.
